Movin’ Up: Power Rankings
The Redskins moved up this week in the ESPN Power Rankings. The defeat of the Cowboys, in Dallas, has captured everyone’s attention. Now, the NFC East is fully represented in the top ten, as it should be.
However, as I mentioned in an interview I just gave to the Die Hard Eagles Fan site, it is still hard for me to believe that the Giants belong in the number 1 spot. Sure, they beat us. But, we were a shadow of the team when we played them to what we are today. Secondly, other than us, they’ve defeated two teams who not only have a losing record, but it’s a perfect losing record at that. Neither Cincinnati Bengals or the St. Louis Rams have won a single game…not one.
So, I’m curious. Are the Power Rankings rewarding the Giants for merely being the Super Bowl champs? This week, the Seahawks, who are 1-2 on the season, travel to play the Giants. Chances are, the Giants will win. That will make them 4-0.
If the Redskins beat the Eagles, and the Giants beat the Seahawks, it will be interesting to see how that correlates in the Power Rankings next week. After all, *if* the Redskins win, they will be sitting at 4-1 and having beaten two NFC East rivals and two high-powered offensive teams, as well.
Hail to the Redskins.
